What it is
What is Perchi Matrix?
Perchi Matrix is a connected LED desk display (24x8 RGB pixels at launch, built up to 64x32) driven by an ESP32-S3 running Perchi OS, with 70+ apps for creator counts, sales, deploys, calendars and Home Assistant, an AWTRIX-3-compatible local API, and a core that keeps working on your LAN without our servers.
It is desk-sized, silent and made for numbers you care about rather than pixel art: the count is drawn in one of 5 fonts next to one of 72 icons, every value shows how old it is, and a real event plays one of 14 effects the moment it lands. It shares one dashboard and one app library with Perchi, the desk companion, so a household or a studio runs both from one account.
Real numbers, celebrated
72 apps from 63 integrations show things that actually happened: a Razorpay payment, a new subscriber, a green build, the next meeting. Webhook events light up in under a second.
Silent, and no chores
No speaker, no battery to charge, no app to install and no account wall before the first screen. It plugs into a 5 V supply and stays on the desk.
Designed so a shutdown cannot brick it
The clock, timers and cached apps run on the device, the authenticated local API and MQTT keep working on your LAN without our servers, and firmware updates are signed.
India-first
Priced in rupees with GST, a GST invoice with the serial on it, a 12-month warranty serviced in India, Razorpay and UPI moments, and Hindi messages shown in transliteration.
What it shows
What can Perchi Matrix show?
Perchi Matrix shows live, honest numbers from 60+ integrations, and celebrates the ones that change. Here is what it looks like for the five kinds of people who asked for it; the renders below use the real firmware font on the 24-pixel canvas.
Creators
Perchi Matrix shows your subscriber and follower counts as honest numbers: YouTube, Twitch, Kick, Bluesky, Mastodon, Discord and Patreon, plus a thank-you animation for every Ko-fi or Buy Me a Coffee tip. Milestones you set (every 1,000, or at 10K and 100K) fire one of 14 pixel effects the moment they land.
- YouTube subscribers
- Twitch live
- Instagram followers (after Meta review)
- TikTok stats (after TikTok review)
YouTube rounds public counts above 1,000 to three significant figures, so the display marks the value with a ~. Instagram, TikTok and Threads counters are built and waiting on provider app review; Instagram needs a Business or Creator account, like every counter on the market.
Sellers and founders
Perchi Matrix is the soundbox for your online business, without the SIM, the rental or the noise. A captured Razorpay payment, a Stripe sale, a Shopify order, a Gumroad sale or a new RevenueCat subscription shows up with a cha-ching animation and a running total for today that resets at midnight in your time zone. Numbers can be drawn in Indian format (1.5L, 3Cr) or compact (12K, 1.2M).
Setup is a webhook URL pasted into the provider dashboard. The display receives an amount and a time, never card or UPI details; every webhook is checked with the provider's own signing secret. Shopify orders is in beta; the Shopify App Store and Stripe App versions are waiting on review.
Developers
Perchi Matrix is a build light with a memory: GitHub Actions running, success or failure from the workflow_run webhook with a siren effect on red, Vercel and Netlify deploys, Sentry issues, UptimeRobot and Better Stack monitors, a days-since-incident counter, npm downloads, GitHub stars and followers, and an AI agent status app that tells you when Claude Code needs you without looking at the terminal.
Any number from a public HTTPS JSON API, a Zapier or n8n webhook, or one curl line with an ingest token can be an app too. A pull request merge is not a built-in event; it is a two-minute webhook recipe on the developers page.
Smart home
Perchi Matrix appears in Home Assistant by MQTT discovery as a light (power and brightness), a text entity for notifications, an app selector and sensors for Wi-Fi signal and uptime. Any automation can push a sensor value to the Home Assistant value app or call the authenticated local API with rest_command, and existing AWTRIX 3 notify and custom-app calls keep working.
The local API is off by default and is plain HTTP on your LAN. Home Assistant cannot sign requests, so it uses the bearer-token mode; use mqtts:// with broker credentials to keep the MQTT leg encrypted.
Everyone
Perchi Matrix is a good desk clock before it is anything else: time, date, a personal message, a countdown to an exam or a launch, a focus timer, the next meeting from any iCal link, the weather and sunrise for your town, the next public holiday, a desk pet that cheers your wins, pixel art you draw yourself and a daily quote in English or Hindi transliteration. 37 of the 72 apps need no account or key at all.
Clock, date, text and countdown are drawn on the device and keep running with no internet at all. Polled apps refresh on a schedule from 60 seconds to 24 hours and show how old their value is.
The app library
Which apps come with it?
72 catalogue apps from 63 integrations: 53 available at launch, 8 in beta, 8 waiting on provider approval and 3 that need your own developer key. 37 work with nothing more than a handle or a location. Every app installs from the dashboard in a few clicks and can be restyled per display.

Clock, date, text and countdown work offline; live value needs a server push and keeps its last value.
Honest numbers are a rule, not a setting: every value carries a freshness badge such as "as of 3m", a count a provider rounds (YouTube subscribers) is drawn with a ~, and a value that has expired is drawn as two dashes instead of a stale figure or a fake zero. Webhook apps update in under a second; polled apps refresh on a schedule from 60 seconds to 24 hours, and you can refresh by hand up to 6 times a minute.

How do you set it up?
Perchi Matrix pairs from a browser in under a minute and needs no app: the dashboard runs in Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge on any phone or computer. Every method proves you are physically next to the display, with a code on its LEDs, a button press or a cable.
- STEP 1
Pair over Bluetooth from a browser
Open the dashboard in Chrome, Edge or Brave on a desktop, or Chrome on Android, choose Add device and type the 6-digit code the LEDs show. The code is checked by the display itself and never crosses the network; your Wi-Fi password goes straight to the display. It usually takes under a minute.
- STEP 2
On an iPhone, Wi-Fi + code
Safari and Firefox have no Web Bluetooth, so join the display's own MX setup network with the 8-digit password on the LEDs, pick your Wi-Fi on the page that opens, then type the 8-character code into the dashboard and press the button on the display when the LED hint matches.
- STEP 3
Makers: USB from the browser
A Chromium desktop browser and a USB data cable can install Perchi OS on a bare board from the dashboard's flash page. The installer writes four separate parts and never a merged image, so the device's own identity key survives, and setup continues with the code flow.
Your first apps take seconds: Clock, Date, Text, Weather, Countdown and GitHub stars need no account. If nobody pairs within 15 minutes the display turns its radio off and waits for a button press, and a unit that lost its Wi-Fi keeps showing the clock until you hold the button to enter setup again. Pairing help lives on the support page.
Styles
How do you make it look yours?
Every app on Perchi Matrix is styled on its own: 5 fonts, 72 icons, gradients and rainbow colour, 14 celebration effects, 6 transitions, milestones and thresholds, all previewed pixel-for-pixel before they reach the LEDs.
5 fonts, 72 icons
Tiny 3x5 to bold 6x8 and 7x16 digits on tall canvases; 72 built-in 8x8 icons (coin, heart and star also in 16x16, seven of them animated) and your own icons or bitmaps up to 16 frames.
Colour that means something
Fixed, theme, gradient or rainbow colour per app, a background, alignment and offsets, and up to 4 threshold rules so a red build or a falling number changes colour on its own.
14 effects, 6 transitions
Fireworks, confetti, sparkle, snow, rain, cha-ching, heart burst, siren, shake, flash, rainbow border, star burst, level up and rocket; cut, slide, push, fade, wipe and dissolve between apps.
Milestones and reactions
Celebrate every N, at a value, or on any change; count-up, blink and pulse animations; long text scrolls, ping-pongs, shrinks or clips, at 5 to 60 pixels per second.
A playlist you schedule
Up to 32 apps per display: drag the order, show each for 1 second to 5 minutes, pin one, skip stale ones, and give apps a day and time window so sales stay up all day and the weather shows in the morning.
Pixel-exact previews
The same renderer draws the dashboard preview and the LEDs, checked frame-for-frame in our tests. A live mirror shows what the real display is doing right now, from anywhere.
No-code builder
Build your own app without code
Start from Blank, JSON counter, Webhook status or Push metric, or remix any public app in the store. The builder lays out pixels on the real canvas, lints the result, previews it on your display and publishes it privately or to the store, where every submission is reviewed by us. Custom apps are declarative: no code runs on our servers or on the device, and secrets never live in the definition.
- Sources: any catalogue app's data, a public HTTPS JSON URL with a path picker, a webhook, a value you push, or a computed field (sum, difference, ratio, percent, min, max of up to 4 fields).
- Layers: text, number, icon, progress, chart, clock, date, countdown, shape, bitmap and group, 12 per scene, with visibility rules and separate layouts for 32x8, 64x16 and 64x32.
- Triggers: rise, fall, cross, change or every N fire an effect, an overlay or a hold on screen.
- Checks before publishing: references, allowed URLs, provider rules, glyph coverage, contrast, overflow and size. Preview on your real display, publish privately, or submit to the store for review.
Public links and automations
Who else can reach your desk?
Perchi Matrix has 4 kinds of public link that let fans, family and customers reach your display without an account, each behind a human check, a moderation wordlist and an approval queue, and inbound automations with 15 provider presets so the tools you already use can update it.
Message my desk
A link or QR code anyone can use to send you a short message (up to 64 characters). Every message is checked by a wordlist that understands English, Hindi and Hinglish and, by default, waits in your approval queue before it lights up.
Pixel guestbook
Visitors place one pixel every five minutes and the picture builds up on your display over the day.
Hype button
A goal, a countdown and a button your audience presses once every ten seconds; the display fills up as they do.
Long-distance tap
Two displays, two people: a tap on one link shows up on the other display, wherever it is.
Automations
- Inbound webhooks with a token header, a secret URL, Standard Webhooks signatures or one of 15 provider presets: Shopify, Stripe, GitHub, Paddle, Lemon Squeezy, Sentry, Netlify, Razorpay, Ko-fi, Buy Me a Coffee, Gumroad, RevenueCat, Telegram, Vercel and Patreon.
- Actions: set a value, add to a running total that resets daily, weekly or monthly, show a message with fields filled in from the payload, or record an event that fires the app's reactions.
- Ready-made recipes for curl, Apple Shortcuts, Home Assistant, Claude Code hooks, GitHub Actions, n8n and Zapier; up to 5 filters, a test-delivery button, a 7-day delivery log and token rotation with a 24-hour grace period.
Share clips and messages
A milestone or a scene can be rendered as an LED-styled GIF with a public page and share buttons, 20 a day per workspace, kept for 30 days. From the dashboard you can send a message of up to 128 characters with an icon, colour, effect and priority, and the display queues up to 8 of them. Devanagari messages are shown in Latin letters, and the moderation wordlist understands Hinglish.
Public links need the hosted service; quiet hours turn the display off, and a celebration that lands during quiet hours is not shown.
Local API, MQTT, Home Assistant
Does it work with Home Assistant and AWTRIX?
Yes. Perchi Matrix appears in Home Assistant by MQTT discovery, accepts rest_command calls on an authenticated local HTTP API, and implements a subset of the AWTRIX 3 API so existing AWTRIX 3 notify and custom-app calls keep working. The local API is off by default and only runs on your own network.
An AWTRIX-compatible display is an LED matrix that accepts the AWTRIX 3 local HTTP and MQTT calls (notify, custom apps, switch, settings, power) so existing AWTRIX 3 scripts and Home Assistant automations keep working; Perchi Matrix implements an authenticated subset. The term, defined.
Turn the local API on per display from the dashboard; the token is shown once and works only for that display. The display announces itself on your network as mx-<short id>.local, answers only to its own host name or IP address, refuses browser cross-site calls, and accepts a bearer token, HTTP Basic credentials or HMAC-signed requests with single-use signatures.
Endpoints: /api/stats, /api/settings, /api/custom, /api/notify, /api/notify/dismiss, /api/apps, /api/switch, /api/nextapp, /api/previousapp, /api/indicator1 to 3 and /api/power, plus native /api/mx/caps and /api/mx/scene. /api/screen is not supported; use the live mirror in the dashboard instead. Up to 8 local apps live in the display's memory, at 30 requests per second.
MQTT topics mirror the HTTP bodies: matrix/notify, matrix/custom/<app>, matrix/switch, matrix/settings and matrix/power, with matrix/stats published every 60 seconds and an online or offline status topic. Discovery creates a light for power and brightness, a text entity for notifications, a select entity for the current app, and sensors for Wi-Fi signal and uptime.
# Settings > Local API > on. Then, on your own network:
curl -X POST http://mx-7k3f.local/api/notify \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $TOKEN" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"text":"DEPLOYED","icon":"check","duration":5}'
# The same body over MQTT (topic prefix "matrix"):
mosquitto_pub -h broker.local -t matrix/notify \
-m '{"text":"DEPLOYED","duration":5}'Developers
What can developers do with it?
Everything the dashboard does, from code: a REST API described by an OpenAPI 3.1 document, inbound webhooks with 15 provider presets, an MCP server with 12 tools for AI assistants, the mtx CLI and TypeScript SDK, and the no-code builder. The APIs, SDK and CLI are part of the product, included with the display.
REST API with an OpenAPI 3.1 document
List displays, send a notification, push a value, install and configure apps, reorder the playlist, preview an app as an image. Idempotency keys, cursor pagination, request ids on every response, 429 with Retry-After.
Scoped tokens
Personal, service, MCP and ingest tokens with a checksum secret scanners recognise, 9 scopes, expiry from 7 days to never, shown once and revocable. A token can never do more than the member who made it.
MCP server with 12 tools
Streamable HTTP with a bearer token: list devices, send a notification, set brightness, browse and install apps, push a value, and draft, lint, preview and publish an app from Claude or any MCP client. 60 tool calls a minute.
mtx CLI and TypeScript SDK
login, devices, send, push, validate, preview --gif and publish from a terminal or a CI job; defineApp, lintAppDefinition and renderAppPreviewGif in code.
One curl line for any number
An ingest token pushes a number, text or boolean with a time-to-live of 1 second to 2 hours, 60 requests a minute, to the live value app or your own app.
Dashboard-only on purpose
Workspace settings, members, tokens, pairing, connections, automations, public links and store submission never move over an API token; they need a signed-in person.
Recipes, scopes, rate limits and the local API reference are on the developers page.
Security
How is it secured?
Perchi Matrix is built so the things that matter cannot be taken from you: passkeys first, a key generated on the display and never sent, a pairing code that never leaves the room, secrets encrypted per record, signed firmware updates that roll back by themselves, and a threat model of 49 threats mapped to tests.
Passkeys first
Face ID, Touch ID, Windows Hello or a security key; an 8-digit emailed code as the fallback; optional authenticator app with recovery codes. A passkey sign-in already counts as two-factor, and sensitive actions ask you to confirm again.
A key the display makes itself
Every unit generates a P-256 key on first boot and never sends it. Content, commands and update offers it receives are signed and bound to that unit, and a stranger cannot claim it without a physical factory reset, which notifies you.
The pairing code never leaves the room
Bluetooth pairing checks the 6-digit code on the display with a password-authenticated key exchange; the server never sees it, and neither the code nor your Wi-Fi password is stored in the dashboard.
Signed updates, staged rollouts, rollback
Firmware manifests are signed with a key kept offline. The display trial-boots the new image and rolls back by itself if it cannot reach the server; rollouts go 1, 10, 50 then 100 percent and halt when failures appear.
Secrets encrypted per record
Every API key or sign-in you connect is sealed with its own AES-256-GCM key, bound to its row and workspace, masked after you save it, and proven absent from a raw database dump by a test in our build.
A threat model of 49 threats
20 pairing and device threats and 29 web threats, each mapped to an automated test that our continuous integration requires to pass.
Designed so a shutdown cannot brick it
What happens when the internet drops, or we do?
Perchi Matrix keeps working. The core loop runs on the device, the authenticated local API and MQTT keep working on your LAN without our servers, and only signed firmware can ever be installed. The internet going away costs you fresh data, not your display.
The core loop works offline
Clock, date, text, countdown and timers are drawn on the device. Every other app keeps its last value; stale values are dimmed or marked and expired ones are drawn as two dashes, never as a made-up number.
The local API and MQTT keep working on your LAN
Once you turn the authenticated local API on, Home Assistant, Node-RED and your own scripts talk to the display directly on your network. Nothing in that path goes through our servers.
Firmware updates are signed
Only an image signed with our offline key installs, the display trial-boots it, and a bad one rolls back by itself. Safe mode after three failed boots keeps the clock and stays reachable so a fix can still arrive.
Sizes
Which sizes are there?
Perchi Matrix is built from 8x8 WS2812B panels in four factory sizes on one firmware. 24x8 (192 LEDs) is the only size you can reserve today; 32x8, 64x16 and 64x32 open later on the waitlist. The size is set at the factory, so pick the one you want rather than planning to grow a 24x8.

Questions about Perchi Matrix
Does Perchi Matrix need an app?
No. Pairing and every setting happen in a web dashboard from any browser: Bluetooth from Chrome or Edge on a desktop or Chrome on Android, or Wi-Fi plus a code shown on the LEDs from an iPhone. The one physical button handles the basics without any screen at all.
Does Perchi Matrix need a subscription?
No. You never need one to use your display: the core features and the app store are free with the device. Optional plans exist only for studios running many displays and raise workspace limits such as display count and refresh interval.
Does Perchi Matrix work with Home Assistant?
Yes, three ways. MQTT discovery creates a light (power and brightness), a text entity, an app selector and sensors; the local HTTP API on your LAN accepts rest_command calls in bearer mode; and the Home Assistant value app shows any sensor an automation pushes. Any automation can also set Perchi's mood.
Is Perchi Matrix AWTRIX compatible?
It implements an authenticated subset of the AWTRIX 3 local API and MQTT topics, so existing AWTRIX 3 scripts and Home Assistant automations that use notify, custom apps, switch, settings and power keep working. AWTRIX NG's new API is not supported, and screenshots over the local API are not either; use the live mirror in the dashboard.
Does Perchi Matrix work without internet?
The clock, timers, countdowns, text and the last cached values keep running, and the local API and MQTT keep working on your LAN. Values that get too old are dimmed, marked or hidden according to each app's staleness style, and an expired value is drawn as two dashes, never as a made-up number.
Which sizes of Perchi Matrix can I reserve today?
24x8 (three 8x8 panels, 192 LEDs) is the only size you can reserve at launch. 32x8, 64x16 and 64x32 run the same Perchi OS firmware and open later on the waitlist. The size is written at the factory, so panels cannot be added to a 24x8 afterwards.
Does Perchi Matrix make sound?
No. There is no speaker or buzzer. "Cha-ching", "siren" and the other 12 effects are pixel animations, which is what makes the display usable in a shared room.
Which apps need my own key?
Sales and analytics apps (Stripe, Razorpay, Shopify, Gumroad, RevenueCat, Plausible, Umami) use a key, webhook or sign-in you control, stored encrypted and never shown again. Spotify, Strava and X need your own developer app. 37 apps need nothing at all beyond a handle or a location.
Are Instagram and TikTok counters available?
They are built and waiting on Meta's and TikTok's app reviews, so they are listed as "coming after provider approval". Instagram will need a Business or Creator account, as it does on every counter on the market.
Can one dashboard run several Perchi Matrix displays?
Yes. Any number of displays share one workspace and one app library, each with its own playlist of up to 32 apps. Optional plans exist only for studios running many displays at once.
What power supply does Perchi Matrix need?
A 5 V supply rated 3 A or more for the 24x8 size; at the default brightness cap the worst case is about 1.5 A and a dark display draws about 0.2 A. The connector and adapter details are confirmed after the hardware bench pass, and no adapter is bundled. Larger sizes need larger supplies, from 4 A for 32x8 to 20 A for 64x32.
How bright is Perchi Matrix, and can it dim at night?
Brightness is adjustable in the dashboard from 0 to 255 under a factory cap that keeps power draw safe. You get a schedule with a minimum and maximum, a night window with its own level and a warm or red tint, and quiet hours that turn the display off entirely. There is no light sensor on the shipped board.
Does Perchi Matrix show Hindi?
Hindi messages are shown in Latin letters: the display transliterates Devanagari because its fonts are Latin. The moderation wordlist for public links understands English, Hindi and Hinglish, and the daily quote app has a Hindi transliteration option.
