What it shows
What does the Shopify orders today app show?
Today's Shopify orders and revenue for one store with a cha-ching animation per order, through an app you create in the Shopify Dev Dashboard. Beta.
The display shows today's order count beside a green bag icon, or today's revenue with a TODAY label in your store currency, counted from midnight in your workspace time zone. You choose whether to count every order placed or only paid orders; test orders and cancelled orders are never counted.
The connection is an app you create yourself in the Shopify Dev Dashboard with the read_orders scope, installed on your store: you paste its client id, client secret and your store's myshopify.com domain, and MyPerchi mints the 24-hour access tokens from then on. Every call goes to your own store's host, and only totals, currency and order numbers are read, never a customer name or address.
Adding the Shopify automation subscribes the app to orders/create (or orders/paid) so a new order plays a cha-ching animation within a second; every 5 minutes an Admin GraphQL reconcile replaces the counters with Shopify's own count. The app is in beta while Shopify confirms which merchants can create Dev Dashboard apps; a second version that installs from the Shopify App Store is built and waiting on Shopify's review of protected customer data access.

What do you need to connect Shopify orders today?
An API key or link you control. A Shopify Dev Dashboard app with the read_orders scope: its client id, client secret and your store domain.
Keys, tokens and links are tested against the provider before they are saved, stored encrypted per record, masked after saving and never shown again. Revoke them at the provider any time; the app simply stops. The security page lists what we have and have not done.

How fast does Shopify orders today update?
With the Shopify automation, a new order arrives within a second through the orders/create or orders/paid webhook. Every 5 minutes the app re-reads the day's order count and totals through Admin GraphQL and replaces the counters, so the number is exact even if a webhook is missed.
Style
How does Shopify orders today look on the matrix?
The bag icon beside the order count in Shopify green is the default; revenue today with a TODAY label and a plain order count are the others. Each order plays cha-ching with +amount; a milestone at 100 orders or a threshold that turns the count gold above a target are a click away.

Do I need a Shopify App Store app to show orders?
Not for the beta app: you create your own app in the Shopify Dev Dashboard with the read_orders scope, install it on your store and paste its client id and secret. The one-click App Store version is built but waiting on Shopify's review.
Does the Shopify orders app read customer data?
No. The reconcile query asks for order counts, totals, currency and order numbers only, and no customer field is ever selected; webhooks are limited to the same fields. Nothing about who bought reaches MyPerchi or the display.
Are test and cancelled orders counted?
No. Orders marked test and orders with a cancelled status are excluded from both the webhook counting and the 5-minute reconcile, so the display shows real orders only.
Can I count paid orders instead of placed orders?
Yes. The count on setting switches between every order placed (orders/create) and only paid orders (orders/paid); subscribe the automation to the matching topic and both the instant count and the reconcile follow it.
Why is the Shopify orders app in beta?
Because Shopify is still confirming which merchants may create Dev Dashboard apps with client credentials, the method this app uses to read your store. It works on the stores we test with; we keep the beta label until eligibility is confirmed for everyone.
Can the display show today's revenue and order count from Shopify?
Yes, both: the orders layout shows the count beside the bag icon and the revenue layout shows the day's total in your store currency, each counted from midnight in your workspace time zone. Put both in the playlist to rotate them.
