What TickrCast is
TickrCast, from Layered Ventures in Ohio, is a modular LED ticker for the wall: HUB75 panels of 64x32 pixels, 5.2 inches each, chained without tools up to ten panels, driven by an ESP32-S3 with a 5 V 15 A power connector. Its Kickstarter runs from 1 September to 1 October 2026; the site sells a $1 VIP reservation credited to the pledge, and CNX Software reported tiers of $99 for a single panel early bird, $159 for two, $699 for eight and $799 for ten. Kicktraq showed $11,217 pledged from 60 backers on 2026-09-18. Deliveries begin in February 2027, with the first 50 pledges promised weeks after the campaign closes.
Content is rendered on TickrCast's servers and cached in segments; setup is by Bluetooth with a pairing code through an app that was still in store review when we looked. Plugins can be written by pointing an AI assistant at TickrCast through MCP. There is no local API, Home Assistant is a stretch goal, and the press critique from CNX Software was that a cloud-connected device without published code carries a dependency risk, which the founder answers with a promise to release the code if the company closes.
What Perchi Matrix is
Perchi Matrix (₹4,499 including GST) is a desk-scale LED display, 24x8 at launch and up to 64x32 later, that renders on the device and pairs from a browser. It ships with 70+ apps, a no-code builder, a REST API, webhooks, an MCP server for AI assistants and an SDK and CLI, plus an authenticated AWTRIX-3-compatible local API with MQTT and Home Assistant discovery. Reservations are open now with no payment; the estimated wait is 2 to 3 weeks after the hardware bench pass, in the order reserved. See Reserve.
Wall or desk
HUB75 panels give TickrCast far more pixels per panel than WS2812B, and chaining ten of them makes a ticker that reads across a room or a bar. That is not Perchi Matrix's job. Even at 64x32, Perchi Matrix is a desk device, sized to sit beside a monitor or a camera. If the use case is a wall, TickrCast (or GLANCE, compared on Perchi Matrix vs GLANCE) is the right shape.
Cloud rendering against rendering on the device
TickrCast composes every frame on its servers, which makes plugins easy to ship and makes the device dependent on that server; the load-testing figure of 22,000 devices per server is a promise about their side, not yours. Perchi Matrix renders on the device: apps push values, and the display draws them, so the clock, timers and cached apps keep running when the internet drops, and the authenticated local API and MQTT keep working on your LAN without our servers. Firmware updates are signed with automatic rollback.
Building plugins with AI on each
Both products let an AI assistant build things through MCP. On TickrCast, the assistant writes a plugin and publishes it to the marketplace. On Perchi Matrix, the MCP server exposes 12 tools so an assistant can install apps, set values, send messages and change the playlist, and the no-code builder, REST API and webhooks cover the rest; see Developers.
When Perchi Matrix is not the right fit
If you are buying for a wall, a sports bar or a lobby, Perchi Matrix is the wrong scale even at 64x32. If you want scrolling scores and esports feeds at ticker size, TickrCast is built for exactly that. Perchi Matrix is the right fit for a desk you control, with your own numbers and a local API.

Can I build plugins with AI on Perchi Matrix?
Yes. The MCP server exposes 12 tools so Claude or another assistant can install apps, push values, send messages and change the playlist, and the no-code builder, REST API, webhooks and SDK cover apps you want to keep. Everything the dashboard does, the API does.
Should I flash TickrCast onto my Tidbyt?
Your call. TickrCast offers to flash its firmware onto a Tidbyt panel you already own, free until 1 October 2026 per Reddit reports, which moves the device onto TickrCast's cloud; Tronbyt is the community route that keeps rendering on your own machine. Both are reversible only if you keep the original firmware.
