Ulanzi TC001 alternatives: bigger, ready-made, or sold in India

The Ulanzi TC001 ($45.99 direct, ₹7,790 on Amazon.in) is the pixel clock most people flash with AWTRIX. If you want more pixels, a display that works out of the box, or an Indian warranty, here are six alternatives with prices checked on 18 September 2026, including Ulanzi's own TC002 and Perchi Matrix (₹4,499) from MyPerchi.

Published Last checked Competitor prices and availability as read on 6 options ranked, ours at #1

Why are people looking for a Ulanzi TC001 alternative?

The TC001 is an 8x32 clock with 256 WS2812 pixels, a 4,400 mAh battery, a buzzer, light and temperature sensors and a USB-C port. Its stock firmware does clocks, weather, a Pomodoro, a scoreboard and follower counts, but its real value is that Ulanzi officially supports flashing AWTRIX 3, ESPHome and other community firmware over the USB port. That is also its weakness: the Amazon.com summary calls setup 'very complicated', the battery is glued in, and the stock weather service does not cover locations outside China.

People look for an alternative for three reasons. They want more than 256 pixels. They want something that works without flashing, now that AWTRIX 3 is archived and AWTRIX NG is a rewrite. Or they are in India, where the TC001 costs ₹7,790 on Amazon.in and was sold out at the authorised distributor on 18 September 2026.

Checklist

What to look for in Ulanzi TC001 alternatives

Five things the options below are judged on. Decide which two matter to you before reading the list.

  1. 01Does it work out of the box, or does the useful firmware need flashing?
  2. 02How many pixels, and is the size fixed?
  3. 03Is there a documented, authenticated local API and Home Assistant support?
  4. 04Is it sold in your country with a warranty you can use?
  5. 05Battery or mains: do you want portability or an always-on desk display?

The ranked list

6 Ulanzi TC001 alternatives, ranked by what you asked for

Ranked by the need in the search: an alternative to buying a TC001 and flashing it. Perchi Matrix (ours) comes first because it is the only option that needs no flashing, keeps the AWTRIX 3 calls a TC001 owner already has, and is sold in India with a warranty; it has fewer pixels than everything else here except its own launch size.

  1. 01

    Perchi Matrix

    Ours
    Price
    ₹4,499 incl. GST in India
    Best for
A ready-made display with the AWTRIX 3 API built in, sold in India with a warranty

    Where it wins

    • No flashing: pairs from a browser and gets signed firmware updates with rollback
    • Authenticated local API (an AWTRIX-3-compatible subset) and MQTT with Home Assistant discovery keep working on your LAN without our servers
    • 70+ apps including Razorpay, Stripe, Shopify, GitHub Actions and YouTube; a no-code builder for the rest
    • Clock, timers and cached apps keep working offline
    • Sold in India in rupees with a GST invoice and a 12-month warranty

    Where it falls short

    • 192 pixels at the 24x8 launch size, fewer than the TC001's 256; 32x8 and larger open later on the waitlist
    • No battery, no buzzer, no sensors: a desk display, not a portable clock
    • A new product with no customer reviews yet; delivery is estimated 2 to 3 weeks from the day you reserve

Two markets, two answers

Best for a US buyer, and best for an Indian buyer

Where an import price changes the answer, the guide gives both instead of averaging them into one verdict.

Best for a US buyer

The TC002 ($99.99) if you want Ulanzi's ecosystem with more pixels, or the Pixoo-64 ($149.99) if you want art.

Best for an Indian buyer

Perchi Matrix (₹4,499) for data, a local API and Home Assistant; APEX 32x32 (₹3,499 to ₹4,499) for an app-controlled pixel-art frame.

If you already own a TC001

Keep it and decide on firmware, not hardware. AWTRIX 3 keeps working as it is, AWTRIX NG is the actively developed path if you accept rewriting your payloads, and ESPHome is the Home Assistant-native path. The battery and Home Assistant questions specific to the TC001 are answered on the comparison page.

A Perchi Matrix sits comfortably next to a TC001: the AWTRIX 3 notify and custom-app calls you already wrote work on both, so a Home Assistant automation can push the same message to the clock on the shelf and the display on the desk.

Ulanzi TC001 alternatives: your questions, answered

Is the Ulanzi TC001 sold in India?

Yes. On 18 September 2026 it was listed at ₹7,790 (MRP ₹8,499) on Amazon.in, sold by Tektonic India and fulfilled by Amazon, in stock with 4.2 stars from 96 ratings. The authorised distributor hiffin.in listed it at ₹7,999 sale and ₹9,999 regular and showed it sold out on the same day.

What has more pixels than the TC001?

The Divoom Pixoo-64 (64x64, 4,096 pixels), the APEX 32x32 (1,024) and the Ulanzi TC002 (16x52, 832) all have more than the TC001's 256. Perchi Matrix has 192 at its 24x8 launch size and is built in 32x8, 64x16 and 64x32 formats that open later on the waitlist.

Which TC001 alternative needs no flashing?

Perchi Matrix, the Ulanzi TC002, LaMetric TIME, the Divoom Pixoo-64 and the APEX 32x32 all work with their factory firmware. Of those, only Perchi Matrix keeps the AWTRIX 3 API calls and Home Assistant discovery that people flash a TC001 to get.

Which TC001 alternative is sold in India with a warranty?

Perchi Matrix (₹4,499 including GST, 12-month warranty serviced in India) and the APEX 32x32 (₹3,499 to ₹4,499, 1-year warranty). The TC002, LaMetric TIME and Pixoo-64 reach India only as imports, where the warranty is the importer's.

Is the Ulanzi TC002 AWTRIX-compatible?

No. Ulanzi's own comparison says there is no established migration path between the TC001 and TC002, and the TC002's documented HTTP and MQTT interfaces are its own, with no authentication described. A community project, PixDeck, adds a local web app without flashing, but it is not AWTRIX.

Which TC001 alternative has an authenticated local API?

Perchi Matrix: its local API is off by default, turned on per display by an owner, and then requires a token, HTTP Basic credentials or HMAC-signed requests, with a Host allowlist and rate limit. LaMetric TIME uses a per-device API key over HTTPS. The TC002's documentation lists no authentication, AWTRIX NG ships with none, and Divoom's local endpoint is unofficial and unauthenticated.
