Support

Support: setup, pairing, troubleshooting and warranty

Support for Perchi and Perchi Matrix from the team in India that makes them: pairing over Bluetooth in about a minute or from an iPhone with a code, safe mode, signed updates, and warranty claims with your serial and invoice. Email support@myperchi.com; we reply within 1 business day, Monday to Saturday, 10:00 to 19:00 IST.

Setup mode: the LEDs alternate a Bluetooth symbol, PAIR, the short id and PRESS=WIFI.

Setup

How do I pair Perchi or Perchi Matrix?

Four paths, all from a browser, all proving you are next to the device. Open the dashboard, go to Devices and choose Add device; the wizard picks the right tab for your browser.

  • Chrome, Edge or Brave on a desktop

Bluetooth. Open Devices, choose Add device, pick the display named MX- plus the short id on its screen, type the 6-digit code it shows, then choose your Wi-Fi. The code is checked on the device and your Wi-Fi password never reaches our servers. Usually under a minute.

  • Chrome on Android

The same Bluetooth flow, from the phone. Keep the phone within a few metres of the device, and if the browser list stays empty make sure the LEDs or the face show PAIR and no other pairing tab is open.

  • iPhone, Safari or Firefox

Wi-Fi + code. Put the device in setup mode and press its button once so it starts its own network (the wizard shows the exact touch for Perchi), join that network with the 8-digit password on the screen, pick your home Wi-Fi, then type the 8-character code into the dashboard and press the button when the hint matches. A few minutes.

  • USB, for makers

A Chromium desktop browser and a USB data cable install the latest stable Perchi OS on a bare board from the USB tab or the public /flash page, keep the board's device key, and hand over to the code flow for the claim.

First block

What should the first ten minutes look like?

A checklist for each device, so you know the unit is healthy before you tell anyone about it.

Perchi

  1. Plug in any 5 V USB-C port or phone charger. Perchi wakes with a stretch and shows its pairing code on its face.
  2. Pair from the dashboard, then boop three times and rest and lift your phone once when the wizard asks.
  3. Rest your phone on the back plate. A 3-second ring confirms, then a 25-minute block starts and a scarf, sprout or tower begins to grow.
  4. Lift the phone: the face goes disappointed and the arc blinks. Put it back within a minute: a sigh, and it carries on.
  5. Let the block finish: silent confetti, a proud face, streak plus one, and the project appears in the wardrobe in the dashboard.
  6. Open the device page: the live mirror shows the same frame as the screen. Set quiet hours and your resting screen there.

Perchi Matrix

  1. Connect a 5 V supply rated 3 A or more for the 24x8 size. The LEDs light in setup mode with PAIR and the short id.
  2. Pair from the dashboard. On success the display plays confetti and greets you with HI and your name.
  3. Install the apps that need no account first: Clock, Date, Text, Weather, Countdown, GitHub stars.
  4. Open the playlist and set how long each app shows. Every value carries a freshness badge; a tilde marks a provider-rounded number.
  5. Send yourself a message from the dashboard to see an effect land in under a second.
  6. Set the brightness schedule and quiet hours, and check the Firmware page for an update; updates are signed and roll back by themselves.

On the LEDs

What do the messages on Perchi Matrix mean?

The display talks in short words. The four you will see first, drawn with the same 5x8 font the firmware uses.

  • PAIR

Setup mode, waiting to be paired

  • 7K3F

The short id you pick in the browser list

  • HI

    Paired: confetti, then your name

  • SAFE

Safe mode after 3 failed boots; clock only, still updatable

Troubleshooting

What are the ten most common fixes?

Taken from the troubleshooting guide, in the order people hit them. Start with the device's page in the dashboard: the status badge, Last seen and Diagnostics show most problems directly.

01The display shows nothing, or the dashboard says Offline
Check brightness and quiet hours in the display's settings first: quiet hours turn the LEDs off completely. Then check Last seen; Offline means it cannot reach the server, so check that the Wi-Fi network still exists. Until the clock has synced, clocks show --:-- and brightness stays low. If every app is switched off or skipped, nothing rotates. Restart from Settings > Danger zone, or unplug and plug back in.
02The LEDs show PAIR, or SETUP OFF - PRESS BTN
PAIR means setup mode: pair it from Devices > Add device. SETUP OFF means nobody paired within 15 minutes and the radio switched off; press the button once and it starts again.
03WIFI PASS? or NO WIFI
The password was wrong or the network was not found. The wizard lets you choose the network again; the device joins only 2.4 GHz networks, so pick that band if your router splits them.
04NO SERVER
The device joined Wi-Fi but has no server address. Hold the button for about 5 seconds and release it before the RESET countdown appears; it restarts in pairing mode. Pair again over Bluetooth, which sets the address for you, or over USB.
05OWNED - RESET TO PAIR, or SIGNED OUT
The device belongs to a workspace, or was removed from one. Remove it in the old workspace, or factory reset it by holding the button for 10 seconds, then pair it again. Transfer lock in the old workspace blocks a reset-and-claim, and the previous owner is notified.
06The browser list shows no display during Bluetooth pairing
Bluetooth pairing needs Chrome, Edge or Brave on a desktop or Chrome on Android, on an HTTPS page. Check the screen shows PAIR, close other pairing tabs (only one browser can connect at a time), and after 10 wrong codes press the device's button before trying again.
07An app shows old numbers, a tilde, or --
Open the app from the display page and read the Data tab. Stale means the last value is older than the app's freshness window; Expired draws -- rather than a made-up number. Refresh now works up to 6 times a minute. A tilde marks a value the provider rounds, such as YouTube subscribers above 1,000. Values you push expire after their time to live, 300 seconds by default.
08A connection needs reconnecting
The provider stopped accepting the sign-in or key. Open Connections, choose Reconnect and sign in or paste a new key; the apps resume on their next refresh. Rate limited means the provider asked us to slow down and updates resume on their own.
09A webhook does not arrive
Open the automation's Delivery log. Nothing in the log: the sender never reached the URL, so copy it again from Endpoint and check it uses POST. Refused: the token, secret URL or signature is wrong. Filtered out: a filter did not match. Use Send test with a sample body, and check the Accept deliveries switch (a switched-off automation answers 410).
10Perchi does not notice my phone, or starts a block from my hand
Re-run the calibration from Perchi's settings (rest and lift your phone once), then move the touch sensitivity slider: 50 is the factory value, lower is less eager, higher is more sensitive. Detection is capacitive through the shell and is designed to tell a resting phone from a hovering hand; the final tuning happens on the hardware bench pass. You can always start a block by holding the head for 3 seconds.

Offline

What keeps working when Wi-Fi drops?

On Perchi, everything that matters for focus: the face, touch reactions, Phone Nap with its projects, streaks and freezes, clock mode and sleep. Blocks finished offline are stored in a 64-entry ring on the device and sent to the dashboard when it reconnects. Moments from apps, links, rooms, the wardrobe and reports wait for the connection.

On Perchi Matrix, the clock, timers, countdowns, text and the last cached values keep running, and the local API and MQTT keep answering on your LAN. Values that age out are dimmed, marked or hidden by each app's staleness style, and an expired value is drawn as -- rather than a stale number.

Recovery

What is safe mode, and how do updates install?

If a device fails to start 3 times in a row it starts in safe mode and shows SAFE MODE: the clock only, no apps, no local API, but still connected and still able to receive a firmware update. Install any update offered on the Firmware page and restart; after a minute of normal running the failure counter resets. If it keeps happening, email us the information from Diagnostics.

Updates install over the air from the Firmware page while the device is online. Each manifest is signed with a key that never touches a server, the device trial-boots the new image and rolls back by itself if it cannot reach the server afterwards, and rollouts go out in stages that halt on failures. Only stable releases are offered unless a workspace owner enables beta firmware.

Reset and move

How do I change Wi-Fi, move a device or reset it?

Every action here needs you at the device or in its workspace. A device never erases itself because of a server error; only a factory reset or a removal from the dashboard does.

You want toDo thisWhat is kept
Join a different Wi-FiSettings > Danger zone > Change Wi-Fi (online), or hold the button until SETUP blinks, about 5 seconds, and release (offline)Workspace, apps and settings
Move it to another workspaceRemove it from the old workspace, then pair it in the new one; or factory reset and pair, unless the old workspace has Transfer lock onThe device key
Start over completelyHold the button for 10 seconds; release during the RESET 3-2-1 countdown to cancel (on Perchi, hold the head)Only the device key; Wi-Fi, server address, apps and cached data are erased
Remove it from the workspaceSettings > Danger zone > Remove, and type the display name to confirmThe online device erases its Wi-Fi and content and returns to setup
Block a lost or stolen deviceSettings > Danger zone > RevokeIt cannot be claimed again until someone physically resets it

How do I rotate the local API token?

In the display's Settings, under Local API, turn on Create a new token and choose Apply to display. The dialog shows the new token once; store it and replace the old one wherever it is used, because the old one stops working immediately. Turning the local API on, or switching signed requests (HMAC) on or off, always creates a new token. The token works only for that display and grants nothing in the cloud; the API is plain HTTP on your LAN, so keep it to networks you trust. Details and recipes are on the developers page.

Warranty

How do I start a warranty claim?

Every Perchi and Perchi Matrix sold in India carries a 12-month warranty on the electronics and a 10-day dead-on-arrival replacement with free pickup. A claim is one email.

  1. STEP 1

Email the serial and the invoice

Write to support@myperchi.com with the serial number (MXP- or MXW-, on the box and on the device page), the GST invoice and a photo or a short description of the fault. We reply within 1 business day.

  2. STEP 2

Try the quick fix, if there is one

Many faults are a setting, a stale connection or an update, and we walk you through those first over email. If the unit really is faulty, we approve the claim and arrange a free pickup anywhere in India.

  3. STEP 3

    Repair or replacement

We repair or replace the unit and send it back at no cost. A replacement carries the rest of your original warranty, and a dead-on-arrival unit is simply replaced.

Coverage and exclusions are on the warranty page; cancellations and returns on Cancellation and Refunds; delivery and the current wait on the Shipping Policy.

Warranty and claims questions

What a claim needs, who pays for what and what voids the cover. The coverage itself is on the warranty page.

Do I need the invoice and serial number to claim warranty?

Yes, both. The serial number (MXP- for Perchi, MXW- for Perchi Matrix) is printed on the box and shown on the device page in the dashboard, and the GST invoice carries the same serial. Email them to support@myperchi.com with a photo or a short description of the fault and the claim is open.

Who pays for shipping on a warranty claim?

In India, we do: a valid claim within the 12-month warranty gets a free pickup and a free return of the repaired or replacement unit. Terms for units shipped outside India are published when international shipping opens with the global batch.

What voids the warranty?

Drops and knocks, liquid, unauthorised repair, a tampered or removed serial number, and damage caused by a third-party or home-printed shell. Normal use, firmware updates (they are signed and roll back by themselves) and printing your own shell do not void it on their own.

Can a gift recipient make a warranty claim?

Yes. Claims are made with the serial number and the GST invoice, so forward the invoice email to the person you gave the Perchi to and they can write to us directly. If the invoice is lost, we can trace the serial to the original reservation with the email address used to reserve.

Does the warranty cover the cable and the power lead?

The 10-day dead-on-arrival replacement covers everything in the box. After that the 12-month warranty covers the electronics inside the device; if a cable fails later, write to support@myperchi.com with your serial and we will sort it out.

Does a firmware update ever put my warranty at risk?

No. Updates are signed, install over the air from the dashboard, trial-boot on the device and roll back automatically if the new image does not come up cleanly. If a display ends up in safe mode after an update, that is a warranty matter for us to fix, not something you caused.
