What is a Phone Nap?
A Phone Nap is Perchi's focus block: it starts three seconds after your phone rests on Perchi's back, runs 25 minutes by default (5 to 120), pauses when the phone is lifted, and ends as complete or partial, never as a punishment.
What starts and stops a Phone Nap?
Resting the phone on Perchi's back starts it, after a 3-second ring that rules out a passing hand. Lifting the phone pauses it and starts a grace period of 60 seconds by default; put the phone back in time and the block resumes, leave it longer and the block ends as partial. The timer running out ends it as complete.
1 Phone rests: a 3-second ring confirms it
2 Block runs: the ring fills, the scarf grows
3 Phone lifted: paused, with the look
4 Complete: confetti, streak +1
The name is literal: the phone takes a nap on the stand while you work. Perchi does not lock it, hide it or block anything on it; the phone is in reach the whole time, and the face makes picking it up a choice you can see. Whatever Perchi finished before an interruption stays finished. The full walk-through, with all 9 states drawn, is on How Phone Nap works.
What are the defaults and limits?
Every number below is a limit the firmware enforces, changed from the dashboard and kept on the device. Three of them do most of the work: the 3-second confirmation ring, the 25-minute default length and the 60-second grace period.
- Confirmation ring
- 3 seconds
- Block length
- 25 minutes by default; 5 to 120 in 5-minute steps
- Presets
- 25, 45 and 90 minutes; up to 4
- Grace period after lifting the phone
- 60 seconds by default; 10 to 300
- Stages per block
- 5, one every 20 %
- Break after a block
- 5 minutes by default; 0 to 30
- Ways to start
- Rest the phone, hold the head 3 seconds, or press start in the dashboard
- Works offline
- Yes; a ring of 64 unsent block events is kept on the device and synced later
What does Perchi do during a Phone Nap?
It works on a project beside its face: a scarf, a sprout or a tower, advanced in 5 stages, one every 20 % of the block. A finished project goes to the wardrobe in your dashboard. Moments from your apps wait until the block ends, so a sale or a new subscriber never interrupts the last 5 minutes.
A completed block adds a day to your streak; every 7-day run earns 1 freeze that covers a missed day. In a focus room, up to 4 Perchis show each other's state as dots, and a linked Perchi gets a small well done when yours finishes. None of this needs the phone to do anything: it is a stand, and the stand is the timer.

Questions about the term
How long is a Phone Nap?
25 minutes by default. Any length from 5 to 120 minutes in 5-minute steps can be set in the dashboard, with up to 4 presets (25, 45 and 90 to start with) and an optional break of 0 to 30 minutes afterwards.
Is a Phone Nap a pomodoro?
It can be. A 25-minute block with a 5-minute break is the classic pomodoro and it is Perchi's default; the length and the break are yours to change, and nothing ticks or beeps. The difference is what starts it: resting the phone, not setting a timer.
What ends a Phone Nap?
The timer running out, which makes the block complete, or the phone staying lifted for longer than the grace period (60 seconds by default), which makes it partial with every finished stage kept. Holding Perchi's head for 3 seconds ends it by hand.
Can a Phone Nap start without a phone?
Yes. Hold the head for 3 seconds, or press Start a Phone Nap in the dashboard. Every other rule is the same; only the trigger changes.
