LaMetric TIME alternatives: cheaper, local-first, and available in India

LaMetric TIME costs $199.99 direct and about ₹30,000 as an import, with a fixed 37x8 display and a cloud account. If you want the idea for under $100, a local API or an Indian warranty, here are six alternatives with prices checked on 18 September 2026: five we do not sell, and Perchi Matrix (₹4,499) from MyPerchi.

Published Last checked Competitor prices and availability as read on 6 options ranked, ours at #2

Why are people looking for a LaMetric alternative?

LaMetric TIME has been the benchmark smart clock for a decade: a 37x8 white text display with an 8x8 colour icon, two 2 W stereo speakers, internet radio, an ambient light sensor, five built-in apps and the LaMetric Market. There is no separate 'TIME 2'; the store sells the '2022+ version' of the same product. Setup runs through the LaMetric phone app and a cloud account; the local Device API needs a per-device key, and Home Assistant's core integration polls it every 30 seconds.

The alternative searches cluster around three complaints: the price ('expensive and dated' is the recurring Reddit verdict), the fixed one-line layout, and connectivity. Amazon's own summary of the 665 US ratings praises the retro pixel look and then lists Wi-Fi connectivity, app functionality and setup complexity as the common issues. In India there is no official channel at all, so 'lametric clock india' resolves to an importer's listing.

Checklist

What to look for in LaMetric TIME alternatives

Five things the options below are judged on. Decide which two matter to you before reading the list.

  1. 01Price in your currency, including what an import adds
  2. 02Whether the display is a fixed one-line layout or a canvas you choose
  3. 03A local API and Home Assistant support that do not route through a cloud account
  4. 04Speakers, if you actually use the alarm and radio
  5. 05A warranty you can claim where you live

The ranked list

6 LaMetric TIME alternatives, ranked by what you asked for

Ranked by the head phrase, 'under $100'. The Ulanzi TC001 comes first because it is the honest answer for a US buyer with a budget and a screwdriver; Perchi Matrix (ours) is second because it is the answer for India, for a local API without flashing, and for Home Assistant out of the box.

Two markets, two answers

Best for a US buyer, and best for an Indian buyer

Where an import price changes the answer, the guide gives both instead of averaging them into one verdict.

Best for a US buyer

The Ulanzi TC001 ($45.99) with AWTRIX: a battery, a buzzer and a local API for under $50, if you will flash it.

Best for an Indian buyer

Perchi Matrix (₹4,499): the only option here priced in rupees with a GST invoice and a warranty serviced in India. The TC001 lands at ₹7,790; LaMetric TIME at about ₹30,000.

If you already own a LaMetric TIME

It keeps working, and its Home Assistant core integration polls the device locally every 30 seconds once you have a device API key, so nothing here has to replace it. The common pattern is to keep the LaMetric as the bedside or kitchen clock for its speakers and alarm, and put a data display on the desk.

Perchi Matrix fills that desk slot without a second cloud account: it pairs from a browser, appears in Home Assistant through MQTT discovery, and shows the numbers LaMetric's Market does not cover, such as Razorpay, Stripe and GitHub Actions.

LaMetric TIME alternatives: your questions, answered

Is LaMetric available in India?

Not officially. LaMetric TIME reaches India only through Amazon.in importers: a price tracker showed the listing at about ₹30,009 on its last update (August 2023), with a recorded range of ₹18,589 to ₹49,933. The warranty on such a unit is the importer's, not LaMetric's, and LaMetric's own store delivers internationally without duties or taxes included.

What is the best LaMetric alternative with local Home Assistant?

Perchi Matrix, which publishes MQTT discovery so it appears in Home Assistant on its own and keeps working on your LAN without our servers, or a Ulanzi TC001 running AWTRIX, which does the same over MQTT after you flash it. LaMetric's own integration is local polling too, but onboarding runs through OAuth or a manual device key.

Is there a LaMetric alternative with speakers?

Not a silent one. LaMetric's two 2 W speakers, internet radio and alarm are its real moat; none of the displays in this list has speakers. The Ulanzi TC001 has a buzzer, Tidbyt Gen 2 added audio alerts, and Perchi Matrix is silent by design. If you use the radio, keep the LaMetric.

Which LaMetric alternative is cheapest in India?

Perchi Matrix at ₹4,499 including GST, sold in rupees with a GST invoice and a 12-month warranty. The next cheapest is the Ulanzi TC001 at ₹7,790 on Amazon.in; the Divoom Pixoo-64 costs ₹18,999 to ₹22,914 imported.

Which LaMetric alternative is cheapest in the US?

The Ulanzi TC001 at $45.99 on ulanzi.com, roughly a quarter of LaMetric TIME's $199.99. It needs AWTRIX or ESPHome flashed to match LaMetric's integrations, and it has no speakers.

What is the LaMetric SKY?

A lighting product, not a text display: modular triangular LED tiles with 64 independent colour zones per tile, up to 16 tiles, with two built-in apps and Market effects. The starter kit (two tiles and a controller) is $199.99 and showed sold out on store.lametric.com on 18 September 2026. It does not replace a TIME for numbers or notifications.
