YouTube subscriber counter on your desk

The YouTube subscribers app shows the subscriber count, views and video count of any public channel on Perchi Matrix, refreshed every 30 minutes, with a celebration at every milestone you set. You need nothing but the channel handle. YouTube rounds public counts above 1,000 to three significant figures, so the display marks the value with a ~.

What it shows

What does the YouTube subscribers app show?

Subscribers, views and video count of any public YouTube channel, refreshed every 30 minutes, with a celebration at the milestones you set.

Type a channel id or @handle and the subscriber count appears on Perchi Matrix next to the YouTube play icon, in the compact format that fits a 24x8 matrix: 35.1K rather than 35,100. Views and video count are outputs of the same app, so a second layout can show views with a VIEWS label instead. The data comes from the YouTube Data API through MyPerchi's own key, which is why you never sign in.

Milestones are the point. Set one every 1,000 subscribers, or at a value such as 100,000, and the crossing plays one of 14 effects: heart burst, fireworks, confetti, star burst and the rest. Up to 4 threshold rules can change the colour or icon above or below a number, and the value can count up when it changes.

YouTube's public API rounds subscriber counts above 1,000 to three significant figures and does not publish the exact figure, so the display marks the value with a ~ instead of pretending. A channel that hides its subscriber count shows HIDDEN. YouTube's terms forbid derived metrics such as growth per day and require the YouTube attribution the dashboard shows, and we keep at most 29 days of history.

How it connects

What do you need to connect YouTube subscribers?

No account: a public handle. Nothing: the channel id (UC...) or its @handle. MyPerchi's own YouTube key does the work.

No sign-in, no key, no account with the provider. It is one of the 37 apps in the no-account list, so it works from the minute the display is paired.

Speed

How fast does YouTube subscribers update?

Every 30 minutes by default, 15 minutes at the fastest, because YouTube's Data API is quota-limited and the value is polled, not pushed. A freshness badge in the dashboard says how old the number is; after 2 hours without a fresh value the display dims or marks it, and after 24 hours it draws -- instead of an old number.

Style

How does YouTube subscribers look on the matrix?

The default layout is the red YouTube play icon beside the subscriber count in the compact format (35.1K). Five fonts, a fixed, theme, gradient or rainbow colour, and the Indian number style (1.5L) are all a click away. Milestones every N or at a value play one of 14 effects; thresholds change the colour above or below a number; the value counts up when it changes.

The preview at the top of this page is the default YouTube subscribers scene on a 24x8 Perchi Matrix, reading 35K. The apps page explains how freshness badges work, and the Perchi Matrix page lists every font, colour and effect in the style panel.

On Perchi

What does Perchi do with YouTube subscribers?

On Perchi a milestone is a moment: the face goes love-struck first, then the count slides in beside it for a few seconds. Between moments you can set the resting screen to this app, so the subscriber count sits beside Perchi's face on camera. During a Phone Nap block moments queue and show when the block ends.

A moment is Perchi's reaction to a real event: the face changes mood first, then a small card with the value slides in beside it and the face returns. Moments queue three deep, never interrupt a Phone Nap stage change, and wait silently during a block when do-not-disturb is on (the default). See which real events Perchi celebrates and how Phone Nap works.

Setup

Set up YouTube subscribers in three steps

Everything happens in the web dashboard from any browser; there is no app to install on your phone and no account wall before the first pixel.

  1. STEP 1

    Install the app

In the dashboard, open Apps, pick YouTube subscribers and install it on your Perchi Matrix. It is in the no-account list.

  2. STEP 2

    Type the channel

Enter the @handle or the UC... channel id. A handle is resolved once and stored with the value, so later refreshes are quick.

  3. STEP 3

    Set a milestone

In Style, add a milestone every 1,000 or at your next round number, pick an effect, and mark rounded values with ~ (on by default).

Honest limits

Where does YouTube subscribers stop?

What the provider, the hardware or our own roadmap does not allow yet, stated before you reserve rather than after.

Questions about YouTube subscribers

Specific to this app. The general questions (do I need an app, does it work offline, what does a reservation cost) live on the pages that own them.

How do I put my live YouTube subscriber count on my desk?

Install the YouTube subscribers app on Perchi Matrix from the dashboard, type your channel's @handle or id, and the count appears within a minute. It refreshes every 30 minutes, and a milestone you set plays a celebration effect when the count crosses it. No YouTube login, no app on your phone and no subscription.

Does the YouTube counter need my YouTube login?

No. The app reads the public statistics of any channel through MyPerchi's own YouTube API key, so you only type a handle. Nothing about your Google account is stored.

Why does my YouTube subscriber counter show a rounded number?

Because YouTube rounds public subscriber counts above 1,000 to three significant figures (35,100 for a channel with 35,127 subscribers) and does not publish the exact figure. Every counter device on the market shows the same rounded value; Perchi Matrix marks it with a ~ so nobody mistakes it for an exact count.

Can it celebrate 10K subscribers with an animation?

Yes. In the app's style you set milestones every N subscribers or at a value such as 10,000, each with one of 14 effects and a short text such as 10K. Up to 4 threshold rules can also change the colour or icon above a number.

Can I show video views instead of subscribers?

Yes. Views and video count are outputs of the same app: pick the Views layout, or build a custom layout with any of the three numbers. Views and likes of a single video come from the separate YouTube video views app.

Does it show the exact count for my own channel?

Not yet. The exact figure is only available to the channel owner through YouTube Analytics, and the YouTube Analytics app that signs in to your own channel is built but waiting on Google verification, so it is not available today.
