Sales and analytics apps use a key or sign-in that stays yours: it is tested before saving, stored encrypted per record, masked afterwards and revocable at the provider. Webhook apps need nothing stored at all beyond the secret the provider signs with. The security page lists what is and is not in place.

Honest numbers
How do honest numbers work?
MyPerchi never shows a made-up number. Every value on the display and in the dashboard carries its age, a provider-rounded value is marked, and an expired value is drawn as two dashes instead of a stale figure.
Freshness badges
The dashboard shows as of 3m beside every value. After the app's stale window the display dims, marks or hides the value, as you choose; after the expiry window it draws -- until fresh data arrives.
The ~ for rounded values
When a provider publishes a rounded number, YouTube's subscriber count above 1,000 for one, the value is marked with a ~ so nobody mistakes it for an exact count. You can turn the mark off, but it is on by default.
Events, not guesses
Celebrations play on real events: a captured payment, a new star, a finished build. Webhook deliveries are signed by the provider, duplicates are ignored, and a display plays at most 20 celebrations an hour by default.
Your own app
Can you build your own app?
Yes, without code. The builder in the dashboard takes a number from any public JSON URL, a webhook, values you push with one curl line, or the output of any catalogue app, and lets you lay it out on the real 24x8 canvas with text, icons, progress bars, charts and triggers.
Lint checks fonts, contrast and overflow before you publish; a preview runs on your real display; you publish privately or submit to the store, where every app is reviewed by us and rated by the people who install it. Developers get a REST API with an OpenAPI 3.1 document, inbound webhooks with 15 provider presets, an MCP server with 12 tools, the mtx CLI and a TypeScript SDK on the developers page.

How many apps are there?
72 catalogue apps from 63 integrations: 53 are generally available at launch, 8 are in beta or behind a flag, 8 are waiting on provider approval and 3 need your own developer key. 19 have their own page under /apps; the rest are cards until each earns one.
Do I need API keys?
Not for 37 apps: 26 need nothing at all and the rest use MyPerchi's own keys for YouTube, GitHub, Twitch, Kick, weather and Last.fm, so you only type a handle or a location. Sales and analytics apps use a key or sign-in you control, tested before saving, stored encrypted and never shown again.
How often do apps refresh?
Webhook and push apps (Razorpay, Ko-fi, GitHub Actions, AI agent status, Home Assistant value, Webhook value) update in under a second over the signed WebSocket each display keeps open. Polled apps refresh on a schedule from 60 seconds (Spotify, Hacker News story) to 24 hours (holidays); YouTube subscribers refresh every 30 minutes because YouTube's API is quota-limited. Every value shows its age.
Can the same app run on Perchi?
Yes. Every app renders on Perchi's 128x64 OLED through a face-and-card layout and can raise a moment: the face changes mood first, then a card with the value slides in beside it. A few apps are listed for Perchi Matrix only where colour or the pet matters: pixel art, the desk pet and the focus timer, because Perchi has its own face and its own focus block, Phone Nap.
Can I make my own app?
Yes, without code. The builder takes data from any public JSON URL, a webhook, values you push or any catalogue app's output, lets you lay out text, numbers, icons, progress bars and charts on the 24x8 canvas (with separate layouts for larger sizes), adds triggers, previews on your real display and publishes privately or to the store. The developers page has the details, plus the REST API, MCP server and CLI.
Do apps show Indian number formats like 1.5L and 3Cr?
Yes. Every number can be drawn plain, in thousands (12,400), compact (12K, 1.2M) or in the Indian style (1.5L, 3Cr), with 0 to 3 decimals and a prefix or suffix of up to 4 characters, per app; the workspace sets the default. Razorpay payments uses the Indian style out of the box, and values a provider rounds are marked with a ~.
Which apps are waiting on provider approval?
Instagram followers, TikTok stats, YouTube Analytics, Threads followers, Stripe sales (Stripe App), Shopify orders (App Store), GA4 realtime users and Google Calendar next event. Each is built and tested with our own accounts; each is labelled coming after provider approval in the store and on this site until the provider's review lands, and none is sold as available today.
